Mr. Doth grew up in Twin Cities Minnesota with a burning passion for adventure and the outdoors. Like many people however, when it was time to head off to college he did not know what exactly he wanted to do for a profession. Eventually he came to the decision that he wanted to get a PhD and become a college professor where he would be able to work on the research projects of his choice. Graduate school has a hefty price for any college student so Mr. Doth decided he would start working as a school teacher till he could comfortably pay for the extra education. One thing he didn’t plan on was falling in love with teaching, which was exactly what happened. When he realized how much he enjoyed high school he discovered that he was never going to go back to the idea of being a college professor. But instead, he would spend his time teaching in middle, and high schools.
With as much as Mr. Doth enjoyed teaching there was still something missing. His life was lacking that outdoors passion he had always had growing up. When he moved to Alaska that passion to do something with the outdoors became a reality. He started a guiding business called Adventure Outfitters Alaska. This business allows him to get away from the busy, stressful, environment of the middle school classroom he spends ten months of the year teaching in. He now enjoys the best of both worlds. He continues to better his community through teaching while he is also able to enjoy a long loved passion for the outdoors.
